Resumo
This article aims to reflect on how the theme of archaeological heritage, developed through the extension project "On the Trail of Archaeological Heritage: Heritage Education in Schools," sought to integrate students from the Gláucio Gonçalves State Full-Time School – CETI, into an education that fosters the appreciation and importance of the archaeological study of the city of Parintins, from legislation and archaeological sites to the material evidence of the ancestral peoples who occupied this location in the past. This research was developed using the action research methodology. The analyses and interpretations of this work referenced authors linked to the theme of archaeological heritage, indigenous history, and cross-cutting themes in basic education. We conclude that the inclusion of new approaches in school spaces, especially Heritage Education in the teaching of History, is important in the construction of knowledge, as it brings students closer to their cultural references, promoting the appreciation of cultural heritage as an element in the formation of identity and citizenship. The practical activities allowed students to understand that archaeological remains are not just objects of the past, but living representations of an ancestral culture present in contemporary society.
