Memórias de junho: as quadrilhas em Parintins

Abstract

Quadrilles are dance groups that perform during the Parintins Folklore Festival – an event that precedes the competition between the Caprichoso and Garantido Boi-Bumbá groups. Organized by the Municipal Government and with the support of the Government of Amazonas, these performances currently take place at the Sila Marçal Amphitheater and are part of a cultural competition, judging by criteria such as musicality, costumes, choreography, and theme. The presence of the quadrilles prepares the ground for the Boi-Bumbá competition, keeping the local cultural tradition alive and celebrating the caipira dance in a vibrant and competitive way. I present interviews and memories from Mr. Reinaldo de Souza and Evaldo Apolonio da Silva, where they tell a little about the history of the quadrilles and how the Folklore Association of Quadrilles and Dances of Parintins - ADASPIN - came about.
