Estratégias e desafios para o controle da hipertensão em idosos rurais e ribeirinhos: revisão integrativa

Abstract

To identify and analyze the challenges and coping strategies for controlling hypertension among elderly people living in rural and riverside communities in Brazil. Method: This is an Integrative Literature Review, a method that allows for the synthesis and critical analysis of research results on a specific topic. It was conducted using four databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and BVS. Search strategies were developed using MeSH and DeCS descriptors, and the studies identified in the searches were analyzed following the steps of reading, evaluation of included studies, analysis and interpretation of results, categorization, and synthesis of studies. Results: 1950 articles were identified without duplicates. After reading

the titles, 44 articles were selected. After reading the abstracts, 17 articles were selected for full- text reading. After complete reading, the final sample consisted of 7 original articles.

Conclusion: It is essential to develop new research that considers territorial, social, and cultural specificities in order to support public policies that respect the uniqueness of the elderly population and the context in which they live, effectively promoting healthy aging.
