| dc.description.abstract | This study examines how physical, psychological, and cognitive factors influence decision-making quality in critical contexts within the Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM). Through a qualitative, bibliographic, and interpretive approach, national and international studies were reviewed regarding conditions that impact performance under high pressure. Findings show that physical fatigue, sleep deprivation, heat stress, and dehydration impair attention and judgment; acute and chronic stress, anxiety, and low emotional intelligence reduce cognitive clarity; and information overload and heuristic biases increase error risk. Models such as the OODA Loop and Recognition-Primed Decision (RPD) effectively structure more assertive decisions. It is recommended that CBMAM adopt standardized protocols, realistic simulations, and a concise Best Practices Guide for Decision-Making Under Pressure to strengthen team resilience and assertiveness. Enhancing human factors is essential to improve operational efficiency and institutional safety. | |
