Levantamento das espécies de camarões (Crustacea Caridea) na região do Município de Barreirinha - AM

Abstract

The present study has a qualitative and quantitative methodology and aimed to collect freshwater shrimp, in order to morphologically identify the species, using taxonomic keys and manuals, characterizing the carid fauna of the region. The four species presented in this work were obtained during collections carried out between the years 2021 and 2022, in the region of the municipality of Barreirinha, AM. Among the identified species are included: Macrobrachium jelskii (Miers, 1868), M. ferreirai Kensley & Walker, 1982, M. amazonicum (Heller, 1862), and the genus Acetes: A. paraguayensis Hansen, 1919. There are few studies that address topics related to the interactions of the environment with morphology, physiology and, mainly, on the ecology of species in the Barreirinha-AM region and in the entire “Baixo Amazonas” region. Few published data on Subphylum Crustacea, mainly Infraorder Caridea. Allowing the results of this study to fill a gap in the knowledge of the Carid crustaceans of the Lower Amazon region, showing a variety of species to be explored in the scientific and production scope. Knowledge of the aforementioned species is important for their conservation, since most are endemic to the Amazon region.
