Escola itinerante de agroecologia: a importância da agroecologia para os povos tradicionais de careiro

Abstract

This report analyzes the importance of the Casa do Rio Itinerant Agroecology School in the social culture of traditional peoples in the municipality of Careiro between 2017 and 2024. It seeks to understand how the school's agroecological practices contribute to agricultural sustainability, cultural identity, food security, and the strengthening of local economies. The research uses qualitative methods, such as documentary data analysis and interviews. The results highlight that the school plays a primary role in the formation of agroecological practices, generating income, preserving the environment, and conserving traditional culture and knowledge. Furthermore, the objective is to emphasize that agroecology is seen as a strategy to ensure food sovereignty and autonomy for traditional peoples, consolidating the importance of sustainable agriculture and the preservation of biological varieties. In short, it is understood that the school not only transmits technical knowledge but also aims to enhance local culture, strengthening community ties and rescuing ancestral practices, thus contributing to sustainable development and a new harmonious narrative between human communities and the environment.
