Resumo

Urban dances cover a very large number of styles, where in each area we see the female and male genders acting. This work will specifically talk about Break Dance, where the male gender has a much more expressive amount of dancers than the female. The inclusion of women in this dance style is much more difficult because it is a heavier dance, with strong movements and strong expressiveness, in addition to the prejudice of most people in relation to it, where they see urban dances in themselves. as a marginal art and when it comes to Breaking this vision is much more intense. In view of this, the present research has as a problem the following question: Is it possible to change stereotypes in relation to Breaking in the researched group? With a more in-depth study of the female body and its inclusion in this urban world, more precisely in Breaking, we aim to give society a new look at the benefits and positivity that dance brings to people, with a more sensible discourse on style. and its relationship with the female body, as this gender becomes increasingly powerful in this universe. The methodology for this work was an applied research, with descriptive objectives, qualitative approach, phenomenological method, and having field research as a procedure. This work is divided into three chapters. In the first I address questions about the history of Hip Hop. In the second chapter I bring questions about the methodological aspects of the research. In the last chapter are the results and discussions made. With this research it was possible to reveal feelings that can be of many other women within this environment, but it was also noticed that even with a judgmental look from the other, women are increasingly fighting for their space and reaching their prominence within the Breaking scene.
