Resumo

Contemporary dance is based on the principle of creation, where everyday movements can be put into an artistic position. Knowing that motor coordination is constantly developing, as well as intellectual aspects, the research seeks to investigate what contemporary dance, using Laban's approach, could bring about in terms of improvement in this student's life, in addition to providing and seeking methodologies for the teaching of Dance at school, in this way we link dance practice, school content and motor coordination. The research used an active methodology for teaching dance at school, in addition to seeking to identify improvements in motor coordination that dancing could develop in these students. To collect this data, the Psychomotor Battery (BPM) was used, along with conversations with the students, in addition to an interview with the class teacher. We were able to see that most students fit into a normal psychomotor profile and that after the application it was possible to see an improvement in subsequent results, in addition to being able to understand, together with the class teacher, other ways to better work on dance in the school environment.
