Resumo
This work investigated the importance of teaching music in a confessional school. The importance of teaching music to the student´s development in the artistic and social spheres was investigated and analyzed. We wanted to verify if this fact took place only at school or outside it, permeating other spheres of the student´s life. For this, a questionnaire was developed and sent by e-mail to the subject‟s ant their parents. Through the analysis of the answers, was possible to verify that the learning is individualizes, depending on the context in which the student is inserted. Personal motivations determine the path to be followed, whether it is playing the instrument because they feel good doing it or to show to others what they have learned. The study of music transcends the classroom, leaving important memories and reverberating throughout the student´s lives.
