Resumo
This paper discusses the festivities held by Umbanda temples in honor of Catholic saints, their relationship with Catholicism in their celebrations, their insertion within the urban territory, as well as their struggles, resistance, and reaffirmations to remain in their locations. This research topic arose from an interest in understanding the reasons behind this movement, attempting to elucidate the various reasons behind these festivals and at what point in the celebrations it is possible to perceive religious hybridization. Furthermore, it seeks to understand why these Umbanda temples suffer so much from segregation in the urban environment. Currently, Umbanda is gaining greater visibility in the city, especially in the folklore festival, building its space in a predominantly Catholic city.
