O protagonismo da mulher careirense na pesca artesanal: histórias e vivências na colônia z-49

Abstract

This study reports on the stories and experiences, and the leading role of women from Careiro in artisanal fishing, focusing on the Z-49 fishing community. Through instruments such as interviews, observations, and document analysis, it seeks to understand the role of women and their contributions to fishing activity, as well as the challenges they face. The general objective of this research is to understand the participation of women from the Z-49 fishing community in artisanal fishing, valuing their role in fishing activity, the local economy, and the culture of the municipality of Careiro. The specific objectives seek to recognize the leading role of women in artisanal fishing, in addition to identifying the challenges faced by Careiro's female fishers and opportunities to improve their working conditions, and also to analyze issues of visibility, gender equality, and the empowerment of women in nearby communities and in the municipality of Careiro. The results reveal that women play a fundamental role in these stages of artisanal fishing, from preparing the nets to marketing the fish. The research highlights the need for public policies that promote gender equality and the empowerment of women in Careiras society.
