Coleções didáticas das flores mais encontradas na área urbana do município de Parintins - AM

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a didactic collection of flowers from the urban area of Parintins-AM, using dry and wet preservation techniques to create an accessible and long-lasting pedagogical resource. A total of 27 angiosperm species in reproductive phase were collected, ensuring the presence of complete floral structures for detailed botanical identification. The methodological process included random sampling, photographic records, organization in electronic spreadsheets, and subsequent deposition in the Herbarium of the Centro de Estudos Superiores de Parintins (CESP/UEA). The collection was structured in two complementary modalities: laminated exsiccates, which solved the fragility of dry material and enabled safe handling in classrooms, and wet-preserved samples in a solution of 70% alcohol with glycerin, which maintained the volume and tridimensionality of the flowers. This combination of traditional herbarium techniques and adaptations to educational contexts proved effective for pedagogical purposes, expanding the possibilities of use across different educational levels. The results showed that the collection achieved its proposed objectives, constituting an innovative resource for Botany teaching and for valuing the urban flora of Parintins. Future studies are recommended to expand the collection to include rural species and to conduct practical tests with undergraduate and basic education classes, in order to measure its pedagogical impact in addressing the so-called “plant blindness.” In conclusion, the collection now serves as a solid foundation for teaching, scientific research, and environmental education, benefiting academics, teachers, and students at both fundamental and secondary levels.
