Espaço Primatas 2: os amigos do sauim-de-coleira na cidade verde

Abstract

This book is a playful and educational invitation for children, young people, and educators to learn about Amazonian primates, with a special focus on the collared titi monkey—the symbolic species of the city of Manaus and one that is critically endangered. Through the story of friends Toninho and Gustavo, the book combines fictional storytelling with scientific content on the ecology, behavior, diet, and conservation of the region’s monkeys. In addition, it presents the results of outreach initiatives by the Primate Project at the State University of Amazonas (UEA), including educational games, comic strips, and suggestions for hands-on activities. Written in accessible language, the book raises readers’ awareness of the impacts of deforestation, wildfires, and animal trafficking, while inviting them to become guardians of the forest.
