A preservação da língua e cultura indígena no município de Ipixuna-Am: desafios e estratégias

Abstract

This research addresses the complex reality of preserving indigenous cultural identity in a context of increasing globalization and external influences. The work analyzes the challenges and strategies for maintaining the indigenous language and culture in Ipixuna, emphasizing the importance of language as a repository of ancestral knowledge and the need to combat devaluation and the loss of speakers. The research investigates the impacts of colonization, modernization, and the lack of effective public policies on the preservation of indigenous culture in Ipixuna, highlighting the importance of bilingual education and the need for actions that promote the appreciation of indigenous culture and the protection of its rights. The study also analyzes the resistance strategies of the communities, such as the creation of bilingual education programs, the promotion of cultural festivals, and the strengthening of support networks among the communities themselves. The conclusion emphasizes the need for a joint effort between indigenous communities, public authorities, and civil society to guarantee the appreciation of indigenous culture as national heritage, avoiding the irreparable loss of ancestral knowledge and the weakening of the cultural identity of indigenous peoples.
