Resumo
The Bon-Odori Festival is held during the "Festival of the Dead" and is one of the most important rituals of Japanese culture, it is a mortuary rite inherent to Buddhism. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze the Bon-Odori Festival as a cultural tourist event in Manaus and Iranduba. And specifically: to situate in the existing literatures the importance of Japanese festivals for the strengthening of cultural diversity in the state of Amazonas; present the relevance of the Bon-Odori festival in the historical and cultural context of Japanese immigration in Manaus; to expose the contribution of the Bon Odori Festival to the strengthening of tourist activity in the municipalities of Manaus and Iranduba. The investigation followed a division based on the qualitative approach, with bibliographic research and application of interviews, for this we have the contributions of authors who discuss japanese culture, heritage and tourist events, among which we highlight: Azevedo (2000), Beni (2002), Castro (2007), Pelegrini and Funari (2008), Sherkin (1999), among others. Regarding the results, it was found that the festival can become an important inducer of tourism in the Amazon region and that it contributes to the preservation and dissemination of Japanese culture in Manaus and Iranduba.
