Resumo
Although agreeing on the importance of piano training for conductors, Brazilian universities display very different didactic approaches to the topic. Another problem is the necessity to adapt to the plurality of students’ experiences prior to university. Through bibliographical research and the analysis of documents, this research relates the literature with general aspects observed in the practical experience of Amazonas State University piano department. The conclusion is being possible to propose a more flexible and eclectic approach to piano lessons when we consider keyboard training as auxiliary for the development of the skills necessary for conducting.
