Ocorrência de araras vermelhas (Ara chloropterus e A. macao, Psittacidae) em uma Comunidade Rural no Município de Barreirinha-AM.

Abstract

The increase of green areas thanks to anthropic action has the action of birds of the Psittacidae family. Information on the occurrence and behavior of parrots in the natural environment, as well as on the environmental characteristics of the area occupied by them, will support work on the protection, conservation and recovery of species of this taxonomic group in the Amazon. The present study aimed to: Describe the occurrence of the scarlet macaws Ara chloropterus and Ara macao in Vila Ituquara, Barreirinha-AM. Data were collected from November 2019 to March 2020 in two rural properties in Vila Ituquara from observation in a local census that took place in the early morning and when possible in the late afternoon, information was also collected regarding the description of the environment. Another instrument used to obtain data was the interview with the residents through forms. The results showed that there are two pairs of scarlet macaws that nest in chestnut groves located in the study area and that the other birds seen spend the day in nearby areas looking for food, being possible to hear only their vocalizations and return at the end of the afternoon for the areas around the properties. The photographic records of the birds were published on platforms for disseminating bird records SiBBr and WikiAves contributing to citizen science. However, we emphasize the importance of further studies for the maintenance of this and other species, because in the course of this work it was noted that there is a lack of scientific work on ecology, occurrence and other relevant information on parrots for the Amazon region.
