Resumo

In recent years the number of tropical dendroecology studies has increased rapidly, providing key insights into the ecology and dynamics of forests. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth profile of the species Scleronema micranthum (Ducke). And as specific objectives: (1) to define the average time of passage through the diametric classes; (2) identify release and suppression events for the species Scleronema micranthum (Duke). Ten samples were collected from the "Fazenda Jatobá II" Sustainable Forest Management Plan (PMFS), located in the municipality of Itacoatiara, State of Amazonas, state highway AM-010. The dendrometric characteristics of the individuals of Scleronema micranthum Ducke showed the mean age of 139 ± 12 years and the mean for the diameter that was 56 cm. Analyzes of canopy adhesion patterns were able to detect suppression and release events and to classify growth trajectories of Scleronema micranthum Ducke. It was verified that the species did not present any event of release and suppression, being classified based on the trajectory of growth like "type 1". The time of passage through diametric classes indicates a difference in the growth rate, where the highest average rate of passage found was observed in the 0 - 0.99 cm class with a mean of 43 years. To reach 50cm in diameter the species had an average of 127 years ranging from 124 to 155 years. The results were efficient regarding the ecological conditions of the species, despite the complexity of identification suggested by several authors.
