Avaliação do sistema de prevenção e combate a incêndio e pânico do Teatro Amazonas

Abstract

The study analyzed the adequacy of the Amazonas Theater's fire prevention, panic, and fire suppression system to applicable regulatory guidelines. This is justified by the theater's importance as a historical and cultural heritage site, whose preservation is essential given the risk of fire. Qualitative, descriptive research and a case study were used, including a bibliographic and documentary survey, content analysis (Bardin), and Gouveia's (2006) global risk analysis method. The results indicated that most safety measures comply with the regulations, reconciling fire protection and heritage preservation. The safety coefficient revealed that the building offers a higher level of protection than the overall risk. The conclusion is that it is possible to reconcile safety, cultural preservation, and regulatory requirements. The implementation of an emergency plan and specialized training for the fire brigade are recommended. Finally, the research paves the way for future studies on fire risk analysis in other historic buildings.
