The present work, entitled: The Importance of Encouraging Reading in the Early
Years of Elementary School, has as general objective to reflect on the importance of
encouraging reading in the education of students in the early years of elementary
school, also showing specific objectives as: de how the teacher should plan the
teaching practice capable of bringing the student closer to the world of reading,
access to different genres of texts, have a clear notion of what commitments they
have with the student with regard to the issues of reading and learning as a whole.
Therefore, the studies to carry out this work focused on deepening knowledge based
on bibliographic surveys of several scholars, such as: FREIRE, Paulo (1981);
KLEIMAN, Angela (2005); LOIS, Lena (2010); OLIVEIRA, Cláudio Henrique (2009);
SILVA, Ezequiel Theodoro (1987); ZILBERMAN; YUNES, Eliana (1985); Regina
(2008); among others, who in their studies report densely and broadly on the
importance of encouraging reading, their contribution to the integral education of the
reader and the needs of students, the school's contribution in planning and
organizing educational activities that provide a climate favorable to the knowledge
construction process, with a view to the formation of autonomous and reflective
readers, capable of accepting challenges, constructing and reconstructing meanings
of the social reality in which they are inserted. Emphasizing that the pleasure of
reading is created from stimuli, and it is up to teachers, the school and also the family
members to provide this moment of training for the student so that they become
critical readers and assume citizenship in the world of culture.
