Resumo
This work seeks to investigate the silencing of women in the 19th century through ananalysis of the trajectory and erasure of the writer and journalist Narcisa Amália from the Brazilian literary canon. The research discusses how historical and cultural factors, strongly marked by patriarchy and slavery, operated to delegitimize and render invisible female authorship in a social context where literature was an important field of symbolic dispute. Using qualitative approaches and dialectical and hypothetical-deductive methods, the study includes historical contextualization, analysis of Narcisa Amália's works – especially the collection "Nebulosas" –, as well as period documents, critiques, and reflections from gender studies and feminist criticism. The results demonstrate that the writer's exclusion from the canon was not due to a lack of literary quality, but rather to political criteria and gender prejudice that permeated the foundation of the national literary tradition. Thus, this work reaffirms the importance of critical reviews that recover the trajectories of marginalized female authors and promote the recognition of female intellectual diversity in the formation of Brazilian literature.
