The present study has as theme: Outlining theoretical approaches on pregnancy and maternity in
adolescence and its implications in the schooling process. I chose this theme because I had worked in
the health area in a Maternity Hospital and saw the real situation of pregnant teenagers and its
implications for school life. Given the reality we are currently experiencing in relation to teenage
pregnancy and school dropout, this work had as its main objective, through bibliographical reviews, to
understand the meanings of pregnancy in teenagers or mothers who still attend schools, both private
and in public schools, differentiating your class levels. Given the context, the research seeks to
understand through the thoughts of authors the necessary changes that occur in the lives of these
young mothers and what they face to continue their school life. The methodology used in this research
was done through books, magazines, newspapers, websites and based on works already published.
Realizes that the family and the school become the pillars of social support for these young women to
continue their school life, and often the low-class girls are the ones who most withdraw from school,
whereas the middle-class girls are able to stay in school because she finds in her family the financial
support to keep her pregnancy. Poor girls delay their project of returning to school, as they will have to
take care of the house and children, tasks that become a priority and difficult to share with their
spouse.
