Resumo
Fungi are extremely versatile eukaryotic organisms that exhibit vegetative cell growth in
the form of mycelium followed by a change in shape and structure with the formation of
asexual and sexual spores. The fungal cell wall does not contain glycopeptide, present in
bacteria, but several types of polysaccharides. They are widely distributed in nature and
can be found in water, atmospheric air, soil, living animals and vegetables, parasitizing
them, decaying organic matter, food and industrial products. They are the most effective
biodegraders of lignocellulosic materials in nature, specifically the fungi that cause white
decay (rot), as they degrade all wood components. Despite their role in ecosystems and
their applications in biotechnology, knowledge about Amazonian fungi remains at an
incipient level and almost no studies have been done in the area of enzymes with industrial
potential derived from Amazonian fungi. Of the Amazonian fungi it is estimated that only
about 7% of the species is known, and very little is known about their biology. Nowadays,
as one observes the environment as a whole, one realizes the need to understand the
details of the functioning of the “bio” component, which in turn has enabled the
development of new industrial activities, referred to as Biodegradation of Recalcitrant
Compounds. , drugs, biotechnology food, enzyme production among others. Therefore,
this project aimed to identify and catalog the main species found in the Purus community
in Boca do Acre - AM. Identification was performed by analyzing the morphological
characteristics of the fungi, being identified through classical taxonomy 18 species and 08
genus. The diversity of microorganisms represents an important source of genetic
resources for the advancement of biology and biotechnology. Biotechnology is based on
the search and discovery of industrially exploitable biological resources.
