Segredos de um ateliê : um estudo iconográfico-musical da obra "descanso do modelo"(1882) de Almeida Júnior(1850-1899)

Abstract

This study aims to make an iconographic study of the work Descanso do Modelo, by the artist José Ferraz de Almeida Junior, which is located at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro. A comparative analysis was carried out of three other works by the artist himself - The studio in Paris, O importuno and O modelo - in which the theme represented is highlighted: the artist's studio. This study sought to establish a link between two fields of art that is painting and music. The aim of this research was to perform a musical and aesthetic iconographic study of the work, using the theoretical assumptions of Erwin Panofsky and consonants theories. The methodology adopted was based on readings of iconography and art history, historical research, formal and aesthetics analysis of the work. They were addressed the historical and cultural context in which the work is inserted, the biographical data of the artist and the aesthetic influences present in the work. A brief history of the academic artistic movement in Brazil was realized, understanding its hybrid character.
