A prática do tambor de gambá na cultura de Maués

Abstract

The present work intends to describe and analyze the practices of the drum of Gambá (a percussive musical instrument of African origin traditionally used in feasts of santo, in riverside communities as well as in the seat of the municipality of Maués) in the Feast of the Community of Our Lady of the Conception, located in the rural area of the municipality, at the Guaraná party, an important event for the recurrent city in November, and in the practices of the posses groups in the municipality of Maués. In order to better understand the importance of this musical instrument in the city 's culture, an exploratory research was done, with participant observation in musical groups and greater interaction in events, resulting in the important contribution of this musical instrument in the construction of "identity cultural "of the Mauesenses.
