Resumo
The Amazon River Basin is the largest drainage basin in the world, being considered the largest compartment of surface freshwater on the planet. Although the largest rivers in the Amazon have Andean origin, most of them are formed by the junction of small streams called igarapés. The ichthyofauna present in the streams is quite diverse, harboring species belonging to several orders. However, despite the rich biodiversity, these ecosystems are threatened and little studied. Thus, this study aimed to describe the composition of ichthyological communities found in a terra firme stream, located in the Santa Clara do Quebrinha community, belonging to the municipality of Parintins, state of Amazonas. The study was carried out in August, October and November 2021, which were carried out in accordance with the protocols for collecting and identifying fish available in the literature. The collected animals were fallen in the ichthyological collection of the Nucleus of Research in Aquatic Biology (NPBIO) at the State University of Amazonas, Center for Higher Studies of Parintins. During the studies, a total of 354 individuals belonging to 25 species, distributed in 15 families and six orders were collected. The order Characiforme was the one that predominated with the largest number of species collected. Followed by the order Gymnotiformes; Siluriformes; Perciformes; Synbranchiformes; Cyprinodontiformes. These results can serve as a basis for future studies on the ichthyofauna in stretches of streams in the region.
