Resumo
The main objective of this study is to apply contemporary dance as a pedagogical
strategy to stimulate awareness, autonomy and expressiveness of student’s body
movement in the school environment of the municipality of Coari/Am. The present
study contributes to the improvement of intellectual knowledge and learning, being
relevant for dance professionals working in the municipality and for students who will
be submitted to the research, who may have a different perspective from the current
one about dance and experience new experiences that will contribute to body
construction, autonomy of movement and expressiveness, in addition to enabling a
critical look in relation to it. For the academic public, who will realize that despite the
growth of the art of dance in recent times in our state, there are still places with a
limited idea of what Dance is and its role as an area of knowledge and training of the
individual. This research, according to its nature, is classified as Applied Research
and, regarding its approach, it is defined as qualitative. Therefore, it is concluded that
the students' contact with contemporary dance as a pedagogical practice, even if in a
short time, contributed to their bodily construction, their autonomy of movement and
their authentic expressiveness, so that they valued their bodily experiences that this
phase provides.
