Resumo

This Final Course Project aims to report on a pedagogical experience focused on valuing culture through Northern Brazilian folk dances, understanding them as a formative element of the cultural identity of second-grade elementary school students. The research was developed in a public school in Manaus, using a qualitative approach and based on the format of an experience report. Over six meetings, theoretical and practical activities were carried out involving Carimbó and Boi-Bumbá, cultural manifestations of great relevance to the Amazon region. The approach adopted prioritized bodily experience, the collective construction of knowledge, and the articulation between cultural and pedagogical aspects, promoting expression, respect for diversity, and strengthening the feeling of belonging among students. The results indicate that working with Northern Brazilian folk dances in the school context contributes not only to the motor and cognitive development of children but also to the formation of a cultural identity rooted in local traditions. Furthermore, the experience showed that integrating cultural practices into Physical Education fosters a more critical, pluralistic, and contextualized education, addressing historical challenges related to the marginalization of dance in the school curriculum. It is concluded that Northern Brazilian folk dances constitute a significant pedagogical resource for Physical Education, capable of articulating knowledge, emotions, and cultural memory, strengthening the protagonism and inclusion of students in the Amazonian context.
