Resumo

The research addresses the territoriality of the Karapãna family in the Tarumã-Açu River of Western Amazonia, located on the tributary of the lower Negro River: Tarumã-Açu River, Amazonas, Brazil. This work presents the complex relationship between territory, Modernity/Coloniality and the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, where the general objective of this graduation conclusion paper is to analyze the territoriality of the Karapãna family in the face of the actions of coloniality in TarumãAçu, in Manaus, Western Amazônia. The specific objectives are to understand the territorialization of the Karapãna family; understand the types of conflict and resistance strategy in the urban space of the city of Manaus. The life and work of the Karapãna people highlight the struggle for human rights, indigenous land, language and indigenous school education. The bibliographic research links Modernity and coloniality in the Amazonian scenario, the construction of geographical science and the decolonial perspective for the construction of scientific knowledge. By using the dialectical method, it compromises to analyze the territoriality of the Karapãna family in the face of the actions of coloniality in Tarumã-Açu, in Manaus, in Western Amazon, in an open and flexible conversation in view of the proposed objectives. Structured in four chapters, the work addresses the decolonial perspective in Geography, the indigenous perspective and the presence of native peoples in Brazil and the Amazon, Territory and Territoriality, the presence of indigenous people in the urban environment, the life and work of the Karapãna family and their territoriality, the redefinition of their land, to show their culture, traditions and values. Also, to highlight the resistance of the Karapãna family in the face of colonialities: of Power, of Being, of Knowledge and of Nature.
