Resumo
The population of people with disabilities or reduced mobility has increased considerably in recent years. In Brazil, about 35.8 million people have visual impairment, which is the most recurrent in the country and also in the state of Amazonas, where we find about 651.2 thousand people with this disability.Considering the growing demand of people with visual impairments in the state, it is that museums and cultural centers residing in the place provide accessibility to these people. Thus, using the Cultural Center Palacete Provincial, which is located in the state capital, Manaus and which has a majority flow of local visitors, this study aims to analyze the accessibility of the Palacete Provincial for the care of tourists with visual impairments or low vision. This is a descriptive research, bibliographical, qualitative approach and deductive method, in which guided visits were made with 5 people with visual impairment and a survey was applied after the visit. As a result, it was found that the Cultural Center Palacete Provincial does not meet the needs of aperson with visual impairment regarding the accessibility of the museums that make up the space. As a theoretical contribution, this research, in addition to providing historical and descriptive information about the Cultural Center object of study, presents the literature on accessible tourism and Brazilian legislation despite accessibility. As a contribution, it presents subsidies that can help to make managers aware of the need to invest in accessibility in cultural centers, which can be replicated in other museums and cultural centers.
