Resumo
This study focuses on: Integrating Environmental Education into the Teaching of Portuguese Language at the Kambeba Angelo Torres Indigenous Municipal School - Apugawa Murukwé (which means "Man of Knowledge" in the Kambeba language). The research was conducted with riverside students in the second cycle of elementary school (6th to 9th grade) and a Portuguese language teacher from a community in the municipality of São Paulo de Olivença – AM. Its general objective was to integrate Environmental Education into Portuguese language classes in a cross-curricular manner. The main focus is the cross-curricular nature of Environmental Education, seeking its natural and meaningful inclusion in the Portuguese language curriculum. The methodology employed was action research with a qualitative approach, data collection, bibliographic research, field research, and the application of a questionnaire to students and the teacher. Graphs were used to present the results obtained during the research. Finally, the results obtained demonstrated the relevance of connecting knowledge of the Portuguese language with the environmental reality of the students, contributing to a more contextualized and meaningful education for the indigenous riverside students of the community.
