A Pesca na Comunidade do Mocambo do Arari: saberes, técnicas e importância socioeconômica.

Abstract

This study focuses on fishing in the Mocambo community, its knowledge, techniques, and socioeconomic importance, with the following specific objectives: to understand the knowledge and techniques of fishing in the Mocambo do Arari commu-nity; to recognize the socioeconomic importance of fishing for family sustainability in the Mocambo do Arari community; and to identify social conflicts and the impacts cau-sed by livestock farming on fishing environments. The research is qualitative in nature, involving interviews, photographs, and the use of geoprocessing to survey the area. The readings and reflections were based on de Paula (2010), de Queiroz (2024), and Brasil (2015), which contributed to enriching the research. The results showed that many families depend on fishing, an essential activity that guarantees both income and daily food. Families continue to preserve the traditional knowledge and techniques le-arned over generations. It was also possible to perceive that conflicts in fishing envi-ronments are almost non-existent.
