Resumo
Starting from a qualitative approach to study, this paper seeks to problematize and understand why even today the chauvinistic society, patriarchal and based on Judeo-Christian morality has restrictions on accepting the dancing man, stereotyping him as homosexual, especially in the school environment. . The theoretical structure of the study of male dance is intertwined with gender and sexuality, authors such as Louro and Assis, among others, made me reflect on the theme. We present the investigation of how students perceive dance today, leading them to understand and reflect the reason for the non-acceptance by society of men who practice certain dance modalities doubting their sexuality as a heterosexual subject. We also bring the observation of the looks imposed on the homosexual individual, as it is perceived in the classroom and their relations with their male peers. From this, interviews were recorded and later transcribed for analysis and discussion. Some narratives made us realize that the practice of dance is considered predominantly female or something "homosexual", although we have already noticed changes in society about this profession. From the analyzes performed, the professionals go through decisive moments in the artistic career, assuming positions of subject that, when imposed, face barriers of gender and sexuality, assuming all the risks of this choice, breaking certain historical and culturally established taboos and prejudices.
