Dificuldades dos alunos do 1º anos do ensino médio em relação à multiplicação e divisão de número naturais

Abstract

This article aimed to understand the factors that contribute to the difficulty of 1st-year high school students in relation to multiplication and division of natural numbers. The study was conducted at a public school in the municipality of Parintins – Amazonas, carried out in two stages: the first involved the researcher's immersion in the school environment, engaging with the students, using participant observation (Spradley, 1980) for data collection. The second stage involved the administration of a semi-open questionnaire (Marconi; Lakatos, 1999) to students and teachers, and the application of a diagnostic assessment (Libâneo, 1994) to analyze the level of learning of the operations. The study concluded that there are several factors contributing to students' difficulties with multiplication and division, primarily related to a lack of mastery of multiplication tables, the influence of prior education, and student disinterest in learning.
