Turismo social: oportunidade e desafios na Fundação Doutor Thomas em Manaus

Abstract

It is believed that the State of Amazonas is responsible for promoting the development of tourism, conducting studies and developing projects, producing information and knowledge that can foster the activities of the tourism sector. For this reason, this study aims to analyze how social tourism can contribute to the quality of life of residents of the Dr. Thomas Foundation in Manaus in order to study and identify more leisure opportunities in a planned manner throughout Brazil, since Manaus has few programs of this magnitude. The in-depth analysis seeks to review the literature, identify the characteristics of the Dr. Thomas Foundation, and regarding the methodological aspects, the approach is qualitative and the methodological objectives are exploratory and descriptive with the structuring of a structured questionnaire in the search for verification of the relationship of recreation and leisure activities that occur under the responsibility of the Foundation. The hypothesis adopted is that the government has done little to develop tourism in that location. Therefore, it was observed through the research that the place is important and respected through the lens of the asylum seekers.
