As dificuldades dos alunos na olimpíada Parintinense de Matemática, fase II nível 2 nas escolas estaduais no município de Parintins no ano de 2024

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the main difficulties faced by Level II students of the 8th and 9th grades of elementary school during Phase II of the Parintins Mathematics Olympiad (OPM), held in 2024, in state schools in the municipality of Parintins, Amazonas. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach with quantitative support, of an exploratory and descriptive nature. The instruments used included documentary analysis of the tests applied, questionnaires with students and interviews with Mathematics teachers. The results showed that the main difficulties of the students were related to the interpretation of statements, insufficient mastery of fundamental content, and lack of strategies for problem-solving, studies by Silva and Ribeiro (2022), which highlight the importance of mathematical reading for success in solving complex problems.
