Resumo
School dance and the promotion of mental health in adolescents. It is at this stage that adolescents begin to build their ideas, postures and influences that can facilitate the entry of some difficulties in the development of mental health, resulting in the need to carry out activities such as dancing to recover self-esteem. Thus, the present work aims to identify the effects of school dance practice on the mental health of adolescents. The methodology used consisted of bibliographical research, considered the aspects of a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, carried out from a survey of the theoretical framework. The results considered that the use of dance in the school environment as a resource for the promotion of mental health in adolescents is essential for the improvement of physical and mental well-being, which is attributed to increased affectivity, knowledge and mastery of their bodies, in addition to providing moments of new discoveries, since it works the body movement of each student in order to explore their creative capacity, encouraging self-knowledge and promoting mental health. It is thus concluded that, in view of so many cultural diversities existing in Brazil, it is clear that dance is still an activity little worked on in the school environment.
