Resumo
Badminton in schools can be a good option for learning a new sport, adapting it as needed to
meet students' needs. To this end, the teacher's pedagogical role, based on appropriate
teaching processes, is fundamental. Based on this logic, this research, of the State of the Art
type, aimed to map the scientific production on badminton in school physical education
through a search in the databases Portal Periódicos CAPES, Scielo, and Virtual Health
Library, using the descriptors "badminton and physical education". Eighty articles were
found, which were subjected to inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in a sample of five
articles. The articles, mostly in the form of experience reports, address, to a greater extent,
the use of badminton as a teaching tool for other content and, to a lesser extent, badminton
as a teaching content in itself. Secondarily, the articles address issues of teaching
methodology, critical thinking, interdisciplinarity, and gender. Overall, there is a lack of
quantity and quality of scientific production in Portuguese on badminton in school physical
education.
