Resumo
This final project is the result of the research entitled "Oral History and Memory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Quilombola Community: Struggles and Trajectories." The Sacred Heart of Jesus Community belongs to the municipality of Itacoatiara, Amazonas, and is located in the rural area of the municipality. Discussing the community is part of this research, which began as a complementary activity for the Bachelor's Degree in History, initially related to the extension project in which I participated as a volunteer academic. In 2022, oral history interviews were conducted to develop this research, which focuses on the history, memory, and identities of the community's remnants. The stories and experiences are part of the struggle for historical recognition. Our main objective is to explore history and memory based on the oral narratives of residents who identify as remnants of the quilombos. The methodology consists of working with transcriptions of oral narratives provided by the community members. The accounts of these testimonies are the way we understand how these oral accounts contribute to oral history work regarding the history of the municipality of Itacoatiara, as well as the history of the Quilombo de Serpa.
