Resumo

The Cross-Section test plays a crucial role in the analysis of defects in SMT electronic components, being intrinsically linked to the quality standards that these components must meet. In this work, we sought to evaluate, through a sample of ten sections between capacitors of the welded joint, the presence of defects. The Cross-Section test was carried out, using macroscopic, microscopy and x-ray, to identify such imperfections and the nanoindentation test to analyze mechanical properties. As a result, in section 1 of the joint, the presence of two voids was identified, which together occupy more than 30% of the total area of the joint, being characterized as a defect by the IPC-A-610 standard. Furthermore, the nanoindentation test showed a reduction of approximately 30% in the modulus of elasticity and 10% in Vickers hardness in joints with voids compared to joints without voids.
