Resumo

This research focuses on cinema in the classroom: a pedagogical tool for teaching and learning History. It evaluates the use of cinema as a pedagogical tool for teaching and learning History, highlighting the practice adopted, the challenges encountered, and the results observed. It also investigates the impact of cinema on student motivation and participation in History classes. It analyzes its effectiveness in developing critical and reflective skills in students. It also verifies the feasibility of making History classes more dynamic and engaging through the use of cinema. The study was conceived during the supervised internship II in 2023, when the opportunity arose to conduct the pedagogical intervention project "Cinema in School" with third-year nighttime high school students at the José Carlos Martins Mestrinho State School. The methodology included two stages: selection and screening of a relevant film and classroom reflection and discussion. The results indicate that cinema can be an effective tool for teaching and learning History. Making classes more dynamic and engaging, stimulating students' critical and reflective thinking, and promoting greater student engagement in debate.
