Resumo
The species Cynometra bauhiniifolia Benth., a Fabaceae popularly known as jutairana, has been introduced to the urban afforestation of some cities in the state of Amazonas, especially the capital Manaus. This has great potential to be part of plantations in central beds, public roads, squares and gardens. However, jutairana is still a little known species and little studied in all its aspects, which motivated this work. This study investigated the effect of different combinations of organic substrates on germination and initial growth of the aforementioned species. The experiment was carried out in the nursery of the Centro de Estudos Superiores de Itacoatiara (CESIT - UEA). The following substrates were tested: T0: terra preta (control); T1: terra preta + tanned sawdust; T2: terra preta + tanned cattle manure; T3: terra preta + tanned sawdust + tanned manure. The germination percentage (%G), the average germination time (t) and the emergence speed index (IVE) were evaluated, as well as the biometric variables: shoot height (APA), root length (CRP), stem diameter (DC), leaf area (FA) and total dry matter weight (PMST). The statistical design used was completely randomized, with four treatments and 50 replications in each, totaling 200 seeds. Data were submitted to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and then to variance analysis. Means were compared by Tukey test at 5% probability. The results showed that all substrates tested can be used for C. bauhiniifolia germination because they presented satisfactory results, with no statistically significant difference between treatments for most of the analyzed variables. The best results in leaf area were verified in the control treatment plants (T0). It is concluded that the species is not demanding in nutritional terms in the early stages of development, being an interesting option for large scale production, as it presents rusticity and high survival rate.
