Territórios e Territorialidades na Amazonia: lutas e resistências noTerritório PAE Juruti-Velho - PA

Abstract

This study deals with the processes done to territories, territorialities, struggles and resistance in the territory of the PAE Juruti-Velho/PA, in the Brazilian Amazon in the face of large-scale mining exploration. The objective of this study was to understand the relationships established in the organization, struggles and resistance between mining exploration and traditional community members in a community in the territory of the PAE Juruti - Velho in the Municipality of Juruti/Pará in the face of the presence of the mining company on a large scale. For data collection, a qualitative approach was used. Ten community members of the Association of communities in the Juruti-Velho Region (ACORJUVE) directly contributed to this research. Open interviews were used as an instrument for data collection using questionnaires that could ensure the analysis of the results. It was found that the territories and territorialities of traditional Amazonian communities are unique, being captured in a continuous movement of conflicts of interest. The traditional communities of the territory and their form of collective, social and political organization are the main protagonists in the struggles and resistance in defense of the territories. It is concluded that it is necessary, the need for traditional communities to remain collectively organized in an active resistance to continue occupying and using their territories in a sustainable way and as a means of subsistence, facing the advance o mining capital to the detriment of communities, forests, of the waters, the environmental beings existing in the territory.
