Eventos e sustentabilidade: o carnaval da Banca da Bica (Manaus - AM).

Abstract

Events are important for the generation of income in a locality and, for Tourism, it is a means of getting around the problem of seasonality, attracting visitors at different times of the year and of all profiles. Like any other economic activity, when allied to sustainability, events have much more relevance, uniting economic development, social responsibility and preservation of the environment. The Tourism of Events is of paramount importance as a means of attracting a greater tourist demand to the destination, positively promoting its image and making the visitor want to know even more what is in the locality that receives it. Faced with the attractiveness of Carnival and its cultural characteristic of gathering thousands of people at a given moment, the traditional Banda da Bica was studied, with an event in the historical center of Manaus, and the use of sustainable strategies from its planning to its the collection of data with interviews and bibliographical and documentary research, with the objectives of analyzing the management of the Bica event, identifying the sustainability strategies used during the event, showing the positive and negative aspects that favor or disfavor the sustainability of the event and indicate how cultural events can become sustainable and contribute to the development of Tourism in the city of Manaus. Through this research, it was verified that little is known and practiced about sustainability and how it can be applied in events.
