Moacir Santos : interpretações rítmicas de Coisa nº3

Abstract

Coisa nº3 is inserted in a set of ten musical pieces entitled Things by the Brazilian musician and composer Moacir Santos. This course work aims to compare two recordings of the work, the one from 1965, present on the LP Coisas, and the one from 2001, on the CD Ouro Negro. The score included in Coisas: Cancioneiro Moacir Santos will be used as a reference object. The focus of the research is on interpretations of rhythmic elements of some excerpts of the work, covered in this work, allowing to understand Things nº3 through possibilities of interpretive nuances from the perspective of thematic overlays within a quaternary compass. By comparing the selected passages, showing similarities and differences, it is intended that the research will assist in the rhythmic interpretations of Coisa nº3.
