Resumo

Intestinal parasites are recognized in the clinical setting by the development of parasites in the intestines of humans. The intestinal parasites that cause enteroparasitias in children and adults found in the analyzes were classified into the group of helminths: Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Enterobius vermicularis, Necator americanus, Ancylostoma duodenale and Strongyloides stercoralis, and the protozoan group: Giardia histia and Entamoebliaoly. . Enteroparasitoses represent a major public health problem, both worldwide and nationally, especially in developing countries such as Brazil, due to the precariousness of sanitary conditions, especially: inadequate basic sanitation, faecal water pollution and food and the bad habit of hand hygiene. Although intestinal parasites can affect individuals of all age groups, the greatest vulnerability is in children, especially at preschool age, due to the immature immune system. Enteroparasitoses are responsible for the onset of gastrointestinal dysfunction, changes in children's physical and intellectual development, as well as chronic diarrhea, malnutrition, anemia, and infections and other acute complications. Within this current perspective, the present study investigated the incidence of the main intestinal parasites, describing their epidemiology in children who study at the municipal school. Sofia Barbosa, highlighting the factors that are responsible for its development and prevention and control measures.
