Resumo
This study sought to demonstrate the discursive frauds behind the three letters of introduction and "discovery" of Brazil. With the general objective of discussing European intentions in Brazilian lands, we used the Letter of Pero Vaz de Caminha, the Letter of the Anonymous Pilot, and the Letter of Master João Faras as foundations, with the specific objectives of pointing out the narrative frauds in the three texts and what they mean, explaining to what extent this farce affects basic education in our country, and awakening in readers a critical awareness of Brazilian nationalism, showing a differentiated perspective from new research. Our study methodology was to use an interdisciplinary approach, combining a textual analysis of the letters with theories of history, literature, and current studies. After our approaches, we concluded that even if this subject is debated ten or twenty years from now, it will be timeless for the search for national identity, because as contemporary Brazilians we still find ourselves surrounded by everything that involves the European world, without being able to look at and appreciate our true traditional roots. Everything in this land still resonates with ingrained Eurocentrism, with education playing a crucial role in decolonizing our minds and ideals within the society in which we live.
