Abstract

Fish commercialization plays an important role in the economy and food security of Amazonian populations, being directly associated with artisanal fishing and seasonal river fluctuations. This study aimed to analyze fish commercialization at the Nova Conquista Market, located in the municipality of Parintins, Amazonas State, between September 2025 and May 2026. The research was conducted through interviews with 15 fish vendors, questionnaires, and systematic records of the species commercialized during the study period. The collected data allowed the identification of species diversity and the evaluation of the influence of seasonality on fish availability and prices. Economically and nutritionally important species were recorded, including tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), pirarucu (Arapaima gigas), tucunaré (Cichla ocellaris), and surubim (Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum). The results showed that the supply and diversity of fish species vary according to Amazonian hydrological cycles, directly influencing fish capture, commercialization, and price formation. The market was also identified as an important source of income for fishers and traders, while contributing to local food supply. It was concluded that seasonality significantly influences fishing activities and fish commercialization, highlighting the need to strengthen artisanal fisheries and promote sustainable development in the Amazon region.
