This study aimed to identify the incidence of hollowing in trees recorded in pre-exploratory inventories of forest management at Fazenda Jatobá II, Fazenda Santo Antônio and Fazenda Magareth. The inventories were carried out in three municipalities in the lower Amazon, namely: Itacoatiara, Maués and Nova Olinda do Norte. During the inventories, all commercial trees were measured with DBH – Diameter at Chest Height ≥50cm, and all were submitted to the hollow test, which consists of perforating the trunk with a chainsaw and subsequent measurement with a proper rod for this purpose. The collected data were organized in spreadsheets and underwent data treatment in Excel software. Hollow trees were found in all inventoried areas, these being of different species, and the density relationship – occurrence of hollow; The cost-effectiveness of performing the hollow test in the pre-forestry phase proved to be positive, in addition to having found a much more accurate volumetric estimate in all studied areas, taking into account the removal of hollow trees from the list. still in the forest inventory stage.
