Abstract

This work is an experience report in the form of historical research about the municipality. Its objective, in addition to presenting the practice of historical research, is to understand how the Aripuan community attributed meaning to the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Parish Church, analyzing its inclusion in the classification of historical and cultural heritage. Consequently, the work seeks to recover the historical context of the church, understand the community's relationship with the monument, and investigate the values ​​attributed to it. In this study, the methods used were bibliographical research with reviews of books and scientific articles; documentary research with historical collections related to the Parish Church; the use of the Oral History method, based on interviews with longtime residents. The analysis of photographs and various images is used, which makes it possible to verify the church's social events and its movement within the city's spatial context to achieve the proposed objective. In summary, the results show that the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Parish Church is considered a significant symbol for the Aripuanense community, not only as a place of religious worship, but also as a historical landmark that represents part of the local cultural identity.
